Founded in 1932, Hearing New Zealand has been working hard with the help of our members and volunteers to help individuals around the country who are deaf or hard of hearing. Our work is dedicated to improving the lives of our members and non-members through one-on-one support and services for the hearing impaired. We are also involved in advocacy, education and research.
There are three core focuses for our organisation.
We support those in the community who are deaf or hard of hearing
We educate people (particularly youth) about how to keep their hearing safe and about noise-induced hearing loss
We commission our own research and help fund research projects relevant to hearing and hearing loss
