About the event
Dr. Vlajkovic's principal research interest is in the field of Auditory Neuroscience. His research focus is on molecular mechanisms of sensorineural hearing loss and development of inner ear therapeutics. His programme of research incorporates a series of projects that directly investigate the role of adenosine and ATP signalling in the development of cochlear injury and adaptation to noise. His research has contributed to current understanding of the role of adenosine receptors in repair of cochlear injury and restoration of hearing. His translational research in this area has implications for the treatment of several forms of sensorineural hearing loss, such as those induced by exposure to noise, ototoxic drugs, cochlear implantation and ageing.
